1994: School founded by Lyn Kidd. Part time
training for film and television acting. This led to five years of continual
improvement of the school and the training offered, as well as the
development of strategic alliances leading to the work experience program of
the school.
1999: Development and A.Q.F. Accreditation of Vocational Arts Training
Pathway Advanced Diploma of Film, Television and Theatre Acting.
2000: The Actors Workshop receives Registered Training Organisation status
as a nationally recognised college for actors.
2001: Commenced delivering the Advanced Diploma on a part time basis.
2002: Commenced full time delivery of the Advanced Diploma, Diploma and
Certificate IV.
2003: First graduating class of full time Advanced Diploma students entered
industry. The school is presented with a shield for Excellence and Education
from Queensland Emergency Services, one of the strategic partners in the
work experience program.
2004: Second graduating class of Advanced Diploma and Diploma students. .Founder, Lyn Kidd, honoured by the Queensland Film and Television
Industry for her contribution through supporting emerging film makers. She
was presented with the Kinetone award at the 18th Annual Queensland New Film
Makers Awards. The school was also selected as the Small Training Provider
of the Year, at the 2004 Queensland Training Awards.
2004: Courses successfully re-accredited until 2009. Successful AQTF
Compliance audit.
2005: Successful re-registration of the school until 2010.
2005: The location of the college, Foresters Hall, used as
venue for new works, independent productions and post graduate performances.
